Steel and education "low priority" industries in Brexit talks

The Lib Dems have hit out at local Labour MPs, who have failed to stand up for local jobs.

Commenting on the leaked document reported in today's Times (££ paywall), which reveals a number of "low priority" industries for Brexit talks, which includes steel and education, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Sheffield, Shaffaq Mohammed said

"Labour talk the talk about protecting local jobs, but by voting for the unamended Brexit bill, MPs like Gill Furniss, the Shadow Minister for Steel and Paul Blomfield, who represents more students than any other MP, have rubber stamped secretive Tory plans that could do untold damage to our two of our biggest industries which are at the very heart of Sheffield.

"Jeremy Corbyn might only think the real fight starts now, but Labour MPs this week missed their best chance to get real guarantees on the things that matter."
