Users of Greenhill Library should soon be benefitting from improved facilities and equipment thanks to support from local Lib Dem councillors Simon Clement-Jones and Richard Shaw.
The Library has been awarded cash from the local councillors’ ‘ward pot’ allowances - which provides small grants to community organisations and local good causes.
Greenhill Library is set to benefit from new, taller chairs which will be easier for older library users to get in and out of - as well as new baby changing facilities.
Jordanthorpe Library will soon be getting new wheeled bookshelf units, which will help the library volunteers use the space within the library more flexibly and effectively.
Lib Dem councillor Simon Clement-Jones said: "When Labour wanted to close our libraries the community came together and we made sure they stayed open.”
“Libraries are an essential part of our community and we need them to help provide a place where people can enjoy their love of reading, learn new things and use the computers for things like homework or looking for their next job.”
When the Liberal Democrats ran the council, we didn’t close one single library - and we continue to be proud supporters of our local libraries at Greenhill and Jordanthorpe.”
