Cllr Cliff Woodcraft

Cliff Woodcraft

For 13 years, Cliff Woodcraft has been a strong local voice for Fulwood, standing up for residents and working hard to deliver action on the issues that matter most. Working alongside fellow Lib Dem councillors Andrew Sangar and Sue Alston, he has been campaigning for better bus services, with a focus on the reliability and cost of local routes that are letting too many people down. Together, they have also been pressing for safer roads and standing up for the measures needed to keep residents safe.

Cliff has also been a strong voice for protecting Fulwood's green spaces, including supporting residents to have their say on plans to build 256 homes in the green belt on fields south of Lodge Moor Road. As part of the 28-strong Liberal Democrat team at the Town Hall, Cliff has been holding Labour to account. From speaking out against cuts to winter fuel payments to opposing tax rises on working families, he has been fighting for residents every step of the way.

If you want to keep Cliff as your local champion, back the Lib Dem team this May.

Protecting Our Green Belt

Labour's Local Plan includes plans to release the fields south of Lodge Moor Road for up to 256 new homes. The roads nearby are narrow and difficult, much of the site is flood-prone, and it is far from any bus route. Despite detailed objections from residents about road access, flooding and biodiversity loss, the Planning Inspectors' January 2026 letter made no mention of these concerns whatsoever.

Cliff and the team supported residents in lodging formal objections and will keep pushing back against this development. The Lib Dems were the only party at Sheffield City Council to vote against the Local Plan — Labour and the Green Party forced it through.

Safer Roads and 20mph Zones

Cliff has successfully pushed for timed 20mph zones at St Maries and Nether Green Schools, making the school run safer for children and families. He is pressing for the roll-out of 20mph limits across Endcliffe, Ranmoor and Nether Green more broadly, and calling for vehicle-activated speed signs on key roads to remind drivers to slow down. When the traffic lights at Nether Green stopped working properly, Cliff pushed the council to get them fixed.

He has also been working with residents to tackle fly-tipping on Quiet Lane — bollards have now been installed following Lib Dem pressure — and continues to press for action on Lodge Lane.

Looking After Parks and Local Spaces

When Spider Park needed new play equipment, Cliff worked with residents to make it happen — new swings were installed in September 2025.

The Lib Dem team has been pressing for improvements to Endcliffe Park, where the collapsed path at Nether Spur Gear Dam and delays to the Queen Victoria statue cleaning have been chased consistently.

After years of campaigning by Sue Alston and the Lib Dem team, larger blue recycling bins are now being rolled out across Sheffield from March 2026 — a win against Labour and Green opposition. The Nether Green bring site on Old Fulwood Road also reopened during the bin strike, keeping essential recycling services available to residents.

6 To Fix

The Liberal Democrat Plan

These are our six most urgent commitments — the things Sheffield people have told us repeatedly need fixing, and that a stronger Liberal Democrat group would make happen.

A plan to fix our roads

1. A plan to fix our roads

Let’s stop with the patch work. If a road fails multiple times then it needs a long term fix.

Protect our green fields

2. Protect our green fields

New homes on previously used land first, not on fields and green spaces.

Health in our communities

3. Health in our communities

Put new health services where people need them.

Clean up our streets

4. Clean up our streets

Tough enforcement against anti-social behaviour, illegal vapes and organised retail crime.

Back Sheffield's future

5. Back Sheffield's future

More apprenticeships, more local jobs, working with businesses to keep talent in the city.

A fair deal for renters

6. A fair deal for renters

Stronger enforcement on rogue landlords, clearer rights and real support if your landlord lets you down.
