Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate Shaffaq Mohammed for Sheffield Hallam has said the seat is “neck and neck”.

The Liberal Democrats came only 712 votes behind Labour at the last General Election in 2019 and are in pole position to win this time. The Conservatives came a distant third last time, and haven’t won in over thirty years.

The Liberal Democrats are on the up after winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election. Locally in Sheffield, a recent YouGov MRP poll put the Lib Dems only 1% behind Labour in Sheffield Hallam. In the most recent local elections, the Lib Dems won the popular vote comfortably across the Hallam constituency, securing 40% of the vote.

Liberal Democrat candidate Shaffaq Mohammed will be campaigning for action to save our NHS, secure jobs, increase support for people struggling with the cost of living, and end the sewage scandal.

Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Sheffield Hallam, Shaffaq Mohammed said:

“This election is our chance to get the fresh start that so many people are looking for in our area. Labour already have five MPs in Sheffield - it’s time we got a fresh start for Sheffield Hallam.

“It’s clear that only the Liberal Democrats can beat Labour in Sheffield Hallam - it’s neck and neck here and every vote will count. Unlike most of the country where the contest is between the Conservatives and Labour, here it will be a straight fight between Labour and the Liberal Democrats.”
