Rother Valley Parking

Inconsiderate parking around Rother Valley has been a problem for years. It’s a huge nuisance as it narrows the roads making them congested and harder to spot oncoming traffic. It's not just annoying - it's downright dangerous!

As Lib Dem councillors, we have been determined to finally get something done about this problem after years - even decades - of Labour representation doing nothing about it.

The Highways department in the Town Hall have just published their latest plan and we want to know what you think of it. You can see it below.

The plan includes:

  • Removing the roundabout, repurposing the area for parking, and providing space for drivers to make a U-turn.
  • Footpath along Owlthorpe Greenway to make it easier for pedestrians to walk.
  • Speed bump on Rother Valley Way to make it safer to cross.
  • "No waiting at any time" (yellow line) restrictions within the Meadowgate estate - with some gaps where on-street parking is suitable.
  • Replace the bus stop on Rother Valley Way with parking.

We're happy that things are moving forward to resolve this issue. But once changes are made, they cannot be undone so it's important you - as local residents - are happy to proceed.

Please have a look at the plans and let us know what you think using the survey linked below.
